Diagnostic Validation & Product Evaluation Program
Independent. Non-commercial. Practitioner-centered. Focused on real-world value.
What It Is
The Aesculapius Foundation's Diagnostic Validation & Product Evaluation Program provides independent, non-commercial evaluation of veterinary point-of-care diagnostic instruments and related technologies, consumables, workflows, and access-enabling tools. Studies and reviews are conducted in real-world veterinary practice settings using standardized, transparent protocols. Findings are published and made available to the veterinary community without charge.
Diagnostic instruments remain the program's flagship focus. As veterinary practices increasingly rely on connected systems, consumables, sample-handling tools, software workflows, and access-oriented equipment, the Foundation may also evaluate adjacent products where independent, practice-level assessment would benefit practitioners, educators, farms, shelters, animal owners, and underserved care settings.
This program fills a gap that manufacturers, distributors, and trade publications cannot fill: truly independent, practice-level performance, usability, workflow, and value data on the tools veterinary teams actually use.
What We Evaluate
- Veterinary point-of-care diagnostic instruments and systems
- Analytical accuracy compared to established reference methods
- Precision and reproducibility across operators, shifts, and time
- Testing supplies, reagents, consumables, cartridges, and sample-handling materials
- Workflow integration, staff learning curve, setup, maintenance, and daily usability
- Connectivity, reporting, software, and practice-management workflow considerations
- Total cost of ownership, consumable burden, service requirements, and implementation costs
- Result turnaround time, reliability, and clinical utility in live practice settings
- Field-use suitability for shelters, HVLC clinics, rural practices, mobile services, farms, and other resource-constrained environments
Who Benefits
Access independent performance, usability, and value data before making equipment or workflow decisions.
Use validated, non-commercial data in curriculum and professional development materials.
Benefit when better diagnostic decisions reduce delays, unnecessary expense, and barriers to timely care.
Independent U.S. practice-level evaluation data can become a credible third-party performance record while preserving educational integrity.
Access tools, implementation guidance, and validated data designed for high-throughput, resource-constrained settings.
Program Tracks
The Foundation may organize evaluations into focused tracks, including diagnostic instrument validation, consumables and sample-handling evaluation, practice workflow and usability assessment, total cost and affordability assessment, access and field-use evaluation, and veterinary education or training resource review.
This broader structure allows the program to remain focused on diagnostics while also addressing related products and workflows that affect diagnostic quality, clinical decision-making, affordability, and access to care.
How to Participate
The program is now accepting applications. We welcome interest from veterinary practices interested in hosting an evaluation, manufacturers seeking independent U.S. performance or usability assessment, distributors interested in supporting an evaluation, and veterinary educators or organizations interested in partnering on research design or dissemination.
Use the application form below to describe your interest. The Foundation will follow up within five business days to discuss fit, timing, study design, and any participation requirements.
Validation & Product Evaluation Program — Interest & Application
The Aesculapius Foundation is now accepting applications from veterinary practices, manufacturers, distributors, and veterinary educators interested in participating in or sponsoring independent diagnostic validation or related product evaluation studies.
Applications are submitted securely through Google Forms and logged in the Foundation's response system.
The application form opens in a new tab on Google Forms. If you have an urgent inquiry, contact contact@aesculapiusfoundation.org.
A Note on Independence
Manufacturer or distributor participation in a validation or product evaluation study does not influence study design, methodology, data collection, analysis, or findings. The Foundation maintains full editorial and methodological independence. Participants who sponsor or facilitate a study receive no preferential treatment in findings, no right of review prior to publication, and no ability to restrict dissemination of results.
This independence is the foundation of the program's value — to practitioners, to the profession, to communities seeking reliable care, and to manufacturers or partners whose products perform well under honest scrutiny.
